Bakgrunn og utfordringar:
- Hybrid Microelectronics, MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) and MOEMS (Micro-Optical-Electrical-Mechanical Systems) will become more complex and sophisticated in the future.
- Precision assembly for such systems requires the integration of different technologies from a broad range of sciences, ranging from materials knowledge, precise handling, positioning and joining to algorithm development, simulation by FEM and software controlling.
- Enhancing the capabilities of single institutions and companies by forming a network that covers most or all of the mentioned knowledge is the major aim of the project.
- Start up top partnership and development sustainable network: Design of multiplicator elementslike one-on-one discussions between SMEs and R&D institutions and form task groups for crossing over topics among the network participants, e.g. cleaner production; set up of innovative network instruments like quick scan of project ideas and patent classification. So R&D crossborder projects and partnership can be stimulated, because this way of networking supports trust among the participants and helps to identify top partners efficiently.
- Focus on future challenge of the regions: Thuringia and Carinthia, gateways to new markets of the future like Poland or Slovenia, can only be competitive on global high tech market of optotoelectronics if they collaborate on high qualified and experienced human resources.
