The initiative to this network came from Aalborg, Denmark, 2005. The officers from North Jutland Amt, working with the Regional Development Plans (RDP), invited to a Kick Off meeting for the network in Aalborg 24-25 January 2006. The program for the meeting was based on a questionnaire fall 2005. The results from this questionnaire were also presented on the meeting.
For many years the different thematic groups in the North Sea commission have been looking for good networks for officers, enterprises, organizations, etc. When the invitation was sent to members of these thematic groups, around 30 people responded, crosswise the groups, from 6 different countries (Scotland, England, Belgium, The Netherlands, Denmark and Norway).
Regional Development Plans are something all regions, and regions different levels, have in common. That means that very many officers daily are working with such plans around the North Sea, together with the partnership or the stakeholders. Since the RDP also lead to many concrete processes and sub processes, with often many institutions, organizations and enterprises involved in each process, the RDP in total leads to the occupation of a huge amount of people.
This means that the RDP as a theme for network should be very well founded.
The evaluation of the meeting was very positive, and the officers in Aalborg will make a suggestion for how to make this network come up and go, in a good and efficient way.
